THOUGHTS ON MISTAKES .
"
We may make mistakes in trying to help others , but what pardonable mistakes they are ! The man who does things makes mistakes ,
but he never makes the greatest mistake of all , doing nothing .
Mistakes are often the first letters in the lessons of life . We can make strong words out of them , if we will .
When you make a mistake , do not look back at it long . Take the reason of the thing into your mind : then look forward .
It is foolish to try to hide our mistake ; in the first place , it cannot be done very long ; and if it could it would only add a second
mistake to the first .
It is a mistake to pay no attention to the mistakes of others , nor try to help them out of them . Aiding others to be strong is the best way to strengthen ourselves .

That he had lived for twenty years with a
broken back sustained through falling from a roof was stated at the inquest on Robert Richardson , aged fifty - one , who died in South- wark Infirmary .

Instructions have been issued from the head- quarters of the W.S.FU. to all the branches that during the present crisis no act of mili tancy is to be perpetrated .

The comparison in general form ( betwee
the men players and the women players sh the recent championship ) was so obvious as to indicate that lawn - tennis as a game for men is becoming altogether a different game from women's lawn - tennis . Played side by side at Wimbledon as they are , the distinction , which has always been marked in some de- gree by the disparity in physical resources , is becoming more clearly defined each year ,
says Mr. H. L. Bourke in Baily's Magazine . And is it not at the expense of the women's game , which is getting less publicity in the Press because of its clashing with another type of game , which in the comparative sense is considered to h of more importance and of greater public interest !
an officer at A polo pony belonging to Aldershot the other day performed a remark- able feat by clearing an eight - foot hedge be- side a railway embankment . The animal took fright in the village of Weybourne whilst being ridden by a lad named Beane . It raced along the Lower Farnham - road , and at the base , by Eggar's Hill , swerved to avoid a cark This brought it up to the hedge , which , without hesitation , it took , although there was a awkward take - off . Landing on the embankment , it threw its rider and raced Along to Aldershot Station , a distance of three - quarters of a mile . At the station it Was turned , and it galloped back to the Manor Bridge , where it was captured , none the worse for its exploit . At the International Horse Show picked horses only clear some- thing over 8ft . , which shows what an extra- ordinary feat this was for a pony under 142 hands in height .

A French paper published in Egypt tells little story under the heading " To play golf better . They are generally supposed to be grave and cold , bus probably no . Southern race could reach their exaltation or their fanaticism . A young lady tells the story of how she played golf one day near London with a famous champion She noticed that on one hand the little finger and part of the palm were missing , and asked him sympathetically by what form of accident he had suffered . It wasn't an accident , ' said the young man calmly . ' I had the part cub away to play golf better .
