ANOTHER YEAR .
THE CLEAN and CAREFUL HOUSEWIFE's greatest trouble is DUST ; DUST everywhere .
VACUUM CLEANING is much in favour as
the MOST EFFECTIVE method of cleaning a house , and disposing of accumulated DUST and the deadly MICROBES lurking therein , and keeping it clean and wholesome at all times .
All our machines are worked on the bellows prin- ciple , which is acknowledged to be the best , and , in combination with this , we have a most perfect system of DISPOSING of the DUST by our PATENT AIR - TIGHT DRAWER , which stands unrivalled , and is undoubtedly the best on the market at the present time .
It is quite an antiquated idea to collect dust in a calico bag which has to be taken out every time it is partly filled , emptied , shaken , washed , and replaced . Think of the DUST that must escape and has to be collected again , making the work hard with poor results .
With our PATENT AIR - TIGHT DRAWER you have simply to take it to the dustbin and empty it , when it is ready to replace , which is very easily done , making the minimum of labour for maximum results .

LOCAL TOPICS .
An experiment is to be made by the Post Office in the use of motor cycles with side- car attachment for the conveyance of letters and parcels in rural districts , and with this object in view orders have been placed for 20 machines . In less than a year it is be- lieved there will not be a horse in the postal service , the makers of the vehicles being so sanguine as to their suitability for the work of delivery and collection . By their use it will be possible to give two deliveries a day in country districts where there is now only one , and at a less cost .
Special " Season " tickets are now offered by the G.W.R. at an exceedingly low price for periods of a week , fortnight , or month , to visitors to Ross and other stations in the Wye Valley . For sums varying from 7s . up- wards visitors may secure season tickets en- abling them to travel free of all further charges for one week between any stations from Ross to Chepstow - Usk and Hereford . These privilege tickets can be obtained on showing the return half of a tourist or ex- cursion ticket to Ross and other local stations .
Three tours in all are included in this generous offer by the Railway Company . They are the Wye Valley tour , as mentioned above ; the Wye Valley and Cathedral tour , which includes stations between Ross , Glou- cester , and Chepstow ; the Wye Valley and around the Gateway of Wales tour , which includes the first tour , and stations between Hereford and Pontypool Road . These tickets enable visitors to tour the whole district at a minimum cost , and should prove important factor in the growing popularity of the Wye Valley .

Sir Evelyn Ruggles - Brise , K.C.B. , speak- ing at Gloucester on the efforts being made on behalf of discharged prisoners , said there was in this country a vast amount of moral endeavour , philanthropic instinct , and self- sacrificing effort which only had to be ap- pealed to in the proper way , stimulated and encouraged , to bring forth a great and good work . The reports which he had received had more than justified his optimism . The work of all persons and societies , both lay and religious , who could help in aiding the discharged prisoner was being splendidly done throughout the country ..

The streets of the town are now receiving the much - needed coating of tar . Neighbour- ing towns have performed this task some time ago , but as one of our leading Town Councillors , at the Traders ' gathering on Friday last , was so emphatic in his assertion that Ross leads the way in municipal affairs , slight oversight by whoever may be respon- sible . We only trust that Ross will keep its streets in such good condition that they may really be the envy of all Councils , great and small , within and without the 50 - mile radius . Then will come the rush for houses and property , so long expected and so long delayed .
That there will always be room for im- provement ( until we reach the time of the millenium ) is a fact which cannot be ignored by any reasonable mind . Therefore , the emin- ently practical suggestions thrown out by the Traders deserve the careful attention of those who have . the spending of the large ums of money in which members of this Association are mulcted twice yearly . They naturally claim that as they contribute so much to the rates they are entitled to
