VISIONS . may do some of earth's work after a fashion , The projected visit of the King and Queen to Paris is naturally a very popular topic of conversation in town , and it is evident that our friends across the Channel are full of enthusiasm at the opportunity which in to be afforded them of expressing their great appreciation of the reception which it was our delight last year to accord to President Poincaré . Although it is early to give accu- rate details concerning the programme , it may be taken as pretty certain that King George and Queen Mary will remain in the period will be fully occupied with official and ceremonious functions . A State ban quet at the Elysée , a gala performance at the Opéra , a reception of the British Colony , and possibly a visit to Versailles may be predicted with a reasonable amount of certi- tude . It is scarcely necessary to recall that King Edward was the most popular Monarch who ever visited France , and , if for no other reason , his successor is fassured of a mighty welcome from our friends of the Entente Cordiale . That King George and his gra cious Queen wiH inspire the same feelings of warm personal regard as those which his late Majesty called forth there cannot be the slightest doubt . Not for many sessions past have so many changes in the personnel of both Houses of Parliament taken place in . the course of an ordinary autumn recess as will be seen when the King and Queen make their appearance at Westminster on Tuesday week . No fewer than seven new Peers will take their seats the Lord Chief Justice ( Lord Rending ) ; Lord Parmoor ( Sir Alfred Cripps ) ; Vie and wound up , " But I always say there's not a bit of the gentleman about you , my Lord . Mabel Gye still remains very in different , so that it may not be possible for her to return to her duties for some time to come ; while the Hon . Katherine Villiers is still in Canada with the Duchess of Con- naught . This only leaves the Hon . Venetia Baring and the Hon . Ursula Baring available for duty at the opening of the London season , when it is usual for the Queen to be con- stantly attended by two Maids of Honour , 80 that her Majesty is quite likely to issue new appointments very shortly . The Chairman said there was no doubt a very strong feeling in Mrs. Sherwood's favour , and the Bench were glad to know she was bing a good work .. Mrs. Sherwood : And I want to go on doing the good work to these poor people . The Chairman : I think we quite under- stand your case . A great disaster has overtaken the Fleet- wood fishing fleet . Wreckage picked up off Skye , in the Western Hebride , leaves 40 room for doubt that the Fleetwood trawler Doris has foundered and that her crew of ten men have been drowned . The wreckage found comprises a part of the wheelhouse the lifeboat , and lifebuoys marked with the steamer's name . The Doris , a comparatively new trawler , left Fleetwood for the fishing grounds off the Minch , in the Hebrides , en January 21st , and had not since been seen or heard of .
