Mr. Horace C. L. Blake , who formerly be- longed to the Ross Territorials , and is now serving with the Canadian Contingent , writ- ing to his father , Mr. A. J. Blake , on August . 28th , from Valemtier Camp , Quebec , says : " We are away up in the Ledec Mountains , about 40 miles from a town or city , right away out in the bush . The camp extendsa for 18 miles , and there are nearly 30,000 troops assembled here roady to go , as all , even the Redskin chiefs , are marching in to the cities from the mountains with their bards ready to help the old country . We do not get very much news , as things have been so misrepresented by both the Ameri- can and Canadian Press . I am now attach- ed to the Army Service Corps , have passed the doctor , have my certificates as " a rough rider , and am getting along fine . We are not allowed to carry money , as everything necessary for a soldier is provided by the Canadian Government . We shall go to Al- dershot for a few days before crossing to Belgium . I shall , if I got through , receive a grant of 200 dollars from the city of Tor- onto when we return there . "
