On the motion of Mr. BIRD , seconded by Mr SAINSBURY , the balance sheet was passed subject to audit . The three gentle men asked to audit those accounts were Mr. H. Stevenson , Mr. E. S. Boissier , and Mr. J. Harries . It was further proposed by Mr. WOOLER , and seconded by Mr. STEVEN- SON , that after the accounts had been audit- ed the balance should be paid over to the local relief fund , which was agreed to .
AN OPEN CONCERT ARRANGED . Mr. PIKE said their smoking concert had heen so successful that he ventured to sug- gest that they should enlist the committee as it now stood , and while the patriotism of the people was running high they should endeavour to arrange another concert , one
in which the ladies of the town and district could take part . He was quite sure they would be able to enlist the sympathy of the ladies to sell tickets or help in some way . His own idea as to the charges for admission were that the prices of admission should be 3s . , 2s . , 18. , and that half the proceeds should be given to the Belgian Re- fugee Fund and half to the Local Relief Fund ( hear , hear ) . There was no better way of getting money than by arranging a good con- rert , and if they could organise such a con- rert it would be a good thing .
was
The idea mooted by Mr. Pike seemed to at once meet with the approval of the com- mittee , and after some discussion it resolved , on the proposition of Mr. MEW , seconded by Mr. C. J. WRIGHT . sen . , that such a concert should be arranged .
Mr. Pike was again appointed to act as hon . secretary , with power to appoint an assistant to help him with the work .
The programme and details as to the ar- ranging of the concert were left to the fol- lowing musical committee , from whom any information may be obtained : Mr. H. Crump , Mr. Bert Restall , Mr. H. T. Howell , Mr. J. A. Capewell , Mr. Llewellyn , Mr. C. H Raymond , Mr R. Mapp , Mr. F. Cooper , with power to add to their number .
The prices of the admission tickets were fixed at 9s . , 2s . , and 1s . , with family tickets for four at 10s . 6d .
We understand that the date of the con- cert is fixed for Friday evening , October 9th , at 8 p.m. , and that already there is every prospect of a really high - class programme being arranged . Among those who have al- ready promised to take part in the pro- gramme are : Mrs. Slatter ( Miss Hull ) , Mrs. ( i . Bindon , Miss Curtis , Miss Sparrow , Miss Sadler . A generous offer has been received . guaranteeing all expenses , so that all receipts will go direct to the Local Relief Fund and the Belgian Refugees Fund .
