A black and white photograph of the memorial to 2nd Lieut Cecil Francis Wegg-Prosser of the Rifle Brigade, killed in France, September 3rd, 1916. "Calvary unveiled at Belmont Abbey 3rd May 1918. The memorial was fixed outside the chapel of St Joseph, the family grave of the Wegg-Prossers ( two marble tombs) being immediately below. The base is made of Yorkshire stone rock-faced with an English oak crucifix above. The figure on the cross was made of carved teak and the whole memorial is 14 foot high". This photograph also shows a small laurel wreath which has been placed at the foot of the memorial. |
