Description | Black and white photograph of a boy in class at the Wessington Court School for the Deaf at Woolhope, 1960s. This child was taken to board at the school from his home in Port Talbot, Wales, because there was inadequate provision for him near his home. He was too busy playing when his parents left for their journey home and didn't say goodbye. He only found out years later that his father had to pull over at the end of the driver to comfort his heartbroken wife. Image appeared in The Manchester Guardian October 30th, 1958. |
