Description | Black and white photograph taken on St George's Day. Pictured are the Clements family of Frederick Avenue, Hereford. All the children in the photograph were born on that day and all three were musicians. In the photograph are: Mr Cecil Clements (occupation: baker), Mrs Clements, David Clements (solo cornet), Robert Clements (solo cornet), and Carol Clements (pianist). None of the children were named George: 'We didn't like the name,' said Mrs Clements. When we first arrived we chose the name of the patron saint of Wales instead.' The children were a musical trio. David played solo cornet in Hereford City Silver Band, Robert learnt to play the same instrument, while Carol was a promising pianist. Birthday meant only one party cake, made by their father, a baker by trade. |
