Description | Hereford Liberal Party supporters ended the by-election campaign in a time- honoured fashion - with a torch lit parade. Liberal candidate Frank Owen (who had been an MP for the city in the 1920s) lost his seat to the Tory candidate, David Gibson-Watt (who retained his seat until 1974). Mr Owen was succeeded by Robin Day as Liberal parliamentary candidate for the 1959 election campaign. |
