The seaplane on which Mr. Millichip was travelling fell into the sea in Dutch territorial waters off Westappelle . He has seen a good deal of fighting there and the story of how he gained the D.C.M. is in- teresting , although the full particulars are not to hand . It appears that Corporal Brook was sent on an expedition across the desert in charge of 5,000 Arabs , with two other white men with him . After a journey of about 200 miles across the desert this force came in contact with a big force of Turkish troops , with German regulars and officers . They killed over 50 of these , captured 80 , and dis persed the rest . For this service Corporal Brook was awarded the D.C.M. IN GERMAN EAST AFRICA . Sapper E. B.
