Black and white photograph of a lady standing in the middle of a group of girls dressed in themed costumes. The lady is dancing teacher Iris Cole and the girls are her pupils who performed a dancing display at the Ross Horticultural Show held in the grounds of the Chase Hotel in August 1956. The event was reported in the newspaper (August 16 1956, page 7) but no photographs were published. Details of the different dance routines and the names of the participating girls are given. Advertisement April 19 1956 (page 4) "IRIS COLE School of Dancing Adult and Children Classes At the Central Cafe" The Central Cafe was located at 13 Market Place. Today the site is occupied by Costa. |
