Description |
Black and white photograph showing a group of children standing and kneeling down in front of an old brick building. There are also three adults present. The article is headed "SCHOOL THAT STARTED IN STABLE LOFT TO HAVE £72,000 BUILDING". The children and adults are the pupils and teachers of St. Weonards School. At the time, there were 123 pupils attending the school, so only a portion of them are shown here. The picture was taken at the end of term before it closed for good. When the new school year started in September the pupils would go to a newly built replacement located across the road. The headmaster is named as Mr. R. M. Humphreys but he his not identified in the photograph. The article also gives a detailed account of the history of the school. The building was subsequently converted into dwellings. |
