County of Hereford (hereinafter called the Apprentice) now aged fifteen years
the step-son of Arthur Frederick Preddy of Number 1 Berryfield Place Ross-on-
Hye aforesaid Lorry Driver of the first part the said ARTHUR FREDERICK —
FREDDY (hereinafter called the Parent) of the Second part'and A;‘fi; URSELL ““
LIMITED of waterloo Monumental Works Ross—on—iye aforesaid (hereinafter -
called the Masters) ofithe third part —————————————————————————————————————— w
W I T N E S S E T H and it is hereby declared as follows:—
g_g_§ Apprentice of his own free will and with the consent of the Parent
hereby binds himself apprentice to the Masters to learn the art or trade of
a Monumental Mason and to serve after the manner of an apprentice from the
date of this deed for the term of four years excepting the usual holidays
and days on which the business of the Masters shall be at a standstill -
through accident beyond the control of the Masters —————————————————————————
QL§_§ Apprentice and the Parent hereby jointly and severally covenant with
the Masters that the Apprentice will during his apprenticeship faithfully
honestly and diligently serve the Masters and obey all their lawful orders
and requirements and will not do or knowingly suffer to be done any damage
or injury to the Masters or their property and will in all respects conduct
himself as an honest and faithful apprentice ought to do —- —
;_fl consideration of such service the Masters hereby covenant with the
Apprentice and also (as a separate covenant) with the Parent that the —
Masters will during_the said apprenticeship teach and instruct the - -
Apprentice or causefhim to be taught and instructed in the said art or trade
and also will during the said apprenticeship pay to the Apprentice for his
work and services such wages as are hereinafter mentioned (that is to say)
(a) During the first year one quarter of the standard wage
payable to a.Monumental Mason;
(c) During the third year one half of such standard wage;
(d) During the fourth year five eights of such said wage;
PROVIDED‘”that no deduction shall be made from the said wages in respect of
the usual holidays or any other holiday which may be allowed by the Masters
to the Apprentice but the Apprentice shall not be entitled to any wages if
and while he is absent from work through illness or his own default or for
days on which the business of the Masters shall be at a standstill through
